Always for fun, always needing improvement!
2010
We headed to Oklahoma in October to be a part of the OK State Fair and compete in the Gypsy and Drum show that is a part of the Draft Horse Show. Aislan, our Gypsy Stallion and Tessa, our lovley Drum Mare compteted in all sorts of classes.

Caren and Aislan have certainly formed a wonderful partnership and she took him to quite a few wins, gave the crowd quite a jumping perfomance (both on and off of Aislan....) and brought home the ribbons! Tessa and I didn't do bad either. We had to compete with the big hitch horses and managed to hold our own (and I didn't fall off in the bareback class. Did I mention that she had only been ridden twice bareback? )

Aislan has once again proved that he is not just another pretty stallion. He compteted in all the performance classes and placed well in all of them!

Here are the results:

Aislan
Gypsy Stallion 4 and over halter - Third Place
Obstacle in hand - Second Place
Walk/trot/canter - First Place
Hunter Hack - Second Place
Command Class - Fourth place
English Equitation - First Place

Tessa
Drum Mare Halter - first place
Bareback W/T - second place
Costume - second place
Walk / Trot - not placed (we had lots of really big hitch horses pounding up behind her. She mostly kept her mind! It was very impressive to ride with them!)
Oklahoma State Fair - October 6th
Pine Hill Horse Trials - October 2nd
Caren's background is eventing and we thought we would give Aislan a try at a Hunter Trial. These are like an event, but they are held in one day with the three main disiplines: dressage, stadium jumping and cross country. Since this was Aislan's first HT, we entered him in Combined Training, Green as Grass division. He only competed in the dressage and stadium jumping. Not only was it his first time, it was the first time eventers have ever seen a Gypsy jump. He won't go far in the levels, but he has style and typical gyspy chrisma. He makes everyone smile. Oh, he did get first place!
Pine Hill Horse Trials - December 4th
This time we upped the anty. Aislan still went Green as Grass, but for a full HT. We still hadn't practiced over cross country fences, but he has improved his jumping style at home. He still has lots to learn, but Caren is doing a bang up job! His dressage score was a nice 29.5 and he went clear in stadium and cross country. And once again, he made everyone smile and landed his well deserved first place!
